Ubiquitous Computing Fundamentals – CRC Press Book
Please try again later. I really enjoyed reading it. This is a great book to start learning about Ubiquitous Computing and state of the art in this field. If you are a computer science student who wants to get an overview of this field or you just want to get a sense of different areas in ubiquitous computing then this is the book.
The book is really interesting from chapter 1 to chapter 9. If you are too “techie” then you might not like chapters on “Ubiquitous Computing Field Studies” or “Ethnography in Ubiquitous Computing”. But these chapters will definitely make you appreciate the diversity of this field and help you learn different research approaches which researchers from other areas employ in their work. Overall I’ll say this book is a good investment and a must read if you want to start learning about Ubiquitous Computing.
I got this second hand from Amazon. I was a bit skeptical about buying it second hand but I must say I’m impressed at the condition of the book. Changed my perspective about used books. I would definitely buy books from this seller in the future as well. I highly recommend it to anyone starting out in the field of ubicomp. Specifically, I like two aspects of the book. First, the team of contributors assembled by John Krumm provides a comprehensive introduction to the myriad topics that make up the ubicomp field.
The fact that ubicomp is an interdisciplinary field is exciting, but getting an overview of the field may seem like a daunting task. The textbook provides this overview. Second, paraphrasing Aaron Quigley’s assessment of his chapter, the book provides “an entry point” to the world of conducting research in general, and ubicomp research in particular. The contributors discuss the tools used in various aspects of ubicomp research, from prototyping, to user studies, to data processing.
The individual chapters help the reader formulate research questions and steps, and provide valuable tips on how to report on results. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. This book is so clear and amazing! The author gets to envolve the reader and exaplain subjects in a easy way.
I appreciate and relly recommend it. See all 5 reviews.
